On February 12, the Central Region Team, with support from Marketing Director Lukman and the Chinese technical team, successfully held the first Ginger Technology Training Session in Kaduna State. The training focused on the full-cycle management of ginger cultivation, covering key technical areas such as seed selection and pretreatment, land preparation, cultivation techniques, and pest and disease identification with corresponding chemical control measures. The session provided local ginger farmers with a comprehensive and practical set of operational guidelines.

During the event, Chinese technical specialists shared field management practices rooted in China’s extensive experience in ginger farming. Their presentations served as a catalyst to spark lively discussions among local farmers. Participants actively compared cultivation practices between Nigeria and China, and enthusiastically shared their own indigenous methods and unique approaches to pest and disease management. The on-site interaction was dynamic and the atmosphere highly engaging.

The training not only enhanced local farmers’ understanding of scientific ginger cultivation but also marked a meaningful step in fostering practical Sino-Nigeria agricultural technology exchange. The Central Region Team plans to continue rolling out a series of technical extension activities centered on key crops, contributing to improved agricultural productivity and sustainable growth in the region.
